Setting the Control Lock on an Over the Range Microwave

Guide to Turn the Control Lock On or Off for Amana Microwave​s

Is the control lock set on your Amana microwave? If you don’t know, it’s important to identify how to tell if the control lock is set. The Control Lock disables the control panel pads to avoid unintended use of the microwave oven. If "LOC,"  "L," or a padlock icon shows in the display, then the control lock feature has been enabled.

Depending on your model, there are two different ways to turn on or off the control lock feature. Please refer to your Owner's Manual for specific instructions for your model.

To Turn the Control Lock Feature On or Off: 

  1. Make sure the microwave oven and timer are off.
  2. Press and hold the CANCEL keypad for 3 seconds.
  3. Two (2) tones will sound and "LOC" or a padlock icon will be displayed (indicating the control is LOCKED).
  4. Repeat to unlock. Again, two (2) tones will sound.

Style 2: 

To Turn the Control Lock Feature On or Off: 

  1. Make sure the microwave oven and timer are off.
  2. Press and hold the START keypad for 5 seconds.
  3. Two (2) tones will sound and "L" will be displayed (indicating the control is LOCKED).
  4. Repeat to unlock. Again, two (2) tones will sound.
