How Wrinkle Prevent Option Works

How the Wrinkle Prevent Option Works on Amana Dryer?

Are you tired of pulling wrinkled clothes from the dryer? When you cannot remove a load of clothes from the dryer as soon as it stops, wrinkles can form. The Wrinkle Prevent or Wrinkle Shield Option on select Amana dryers is designed to help. This innovative feature, also known as the Wrinkle Shield on dryer models, extends the tumbling process after the drying cycle ends, reducing wrinkles in your garments. By keeping your clothes moving, you minimize creasing, ensuring your laundry comes out looking fresh and ready to wear. In this article, we'll explain how the wrinkle prevent option works, what the Wrinkle Shield is, how it operates, and provide tips for optimizing its use.

What is the Wrinkle Prevent Option?

The Wrinkle Prevent Option is a feature available on select Amana dryers that helps minimize wrinkles in freshly dried clothes. It works by intermittently tumbling the laundry after the drying cycle completes, preventing fabric from settling and creasing during the cooldown phase. This results in garments that look fresher and more presentable, reducing the need for additional ironing or steaming.

Unlike traditional drying cycles, which leave clothes in a still environment, the Wrinkle Prevent Option keeps them moving. This continuous motion disrupts the formation of wrinkles that typically occur when garments are left undisturbed. Traditional cycles may leave clothes crumpled and wrinkled, but the Wrinkle Prevent Option ensures items maintain their shape and smoothness.

How to use Wrinkle Prevent?

This feature works best with synthetic materials like polyester and nylon, as well as blended fabrics that resist wrinkling. Ideal items include dress shirts, trousers, and casual wear made from these materials. Lightweight cottons can also benefit, but it's advisable to avoid using this option with heavier cottons or linen, as these fabrics may require more traditional drying methods to prevent wrinkles.

When using the Wrinkle Prevent Option, avoid common mistakes such as overloading the dryer. Excessive loads can hinder the tumbling action, reducing the wrinkle prevention feature's effectiveness. Additionally, don't leave clothes in the dryer for too long after the cycle completes, as new wrinkles can form. Promptly remove garments once the cycle ends to maximize this setting's benefits.

  1. Power on the Dryer
  2. Select the desired cycle.
  3. Select "Wrinkle Prevent" or "Wrinkle Shield" to enable this modifier.
