Amana Oven Door is Locked - What Should I Do?

If the oven door is locked either when starting the oven or when using there are some things you can do.  

Door is locked when starting the oven

  • Press Cancel/Off key to start a latch reset, wait 20-30 seconds and open door
  • Turn the power off at the circuit breaker or fuse box for one  minute, then turn the power back on.
  • Allow the oven to cool, approximately 30-90 minutes, move the latch arm to the left to unlock the door.

Door is locked during Self-Clean cycle

  • If power was interrupted during a Self-Clean cycle, and the cycle did not resume, select the "Self Clean" option, then select "Cancel".  Wait a couple of minutes then try to start the cycle again. 
  • If the oven clean cycle was started by mistake: Press Cancel/Off key. The oven will need to cool to approximately 200F(95C) before the oven door will open. 
  • Allow the oven to cool, approximately 30-90 minutes, move the latch arm to the left to unlock the door.

Reset power to the product:

  • Power unit down by turning off the circuit breaker(s) or fuse(s) for one (1) minute.
  • Power unit up by turning on the circuit breaker(s) or fuse(s).
  • Monitor the oven for one (1) minute to ensure the error code does not display again.
  • Verify oven operation.
